Well, as a student in the pre-final year of the college i can guarantee that 80% of the eligible students have already been placed and the placements are still going on for the unplaced students to participate. The eligibility criteria for placements are minimum of 60% of marks in the academics throughout and given you attend all the placement training sessions and a placement mock interview that will be done. So, you will have to balance your academics very well. The core placements are not quite as good due to the reason that the requirements of core companies are normally masters for ece. So if you are choosy about core placements then you will have to give more concentration than just the syllabus of the VTU and keep up with the latest trend of the industry and not just what is new but how it works and where they can be applied. 58 is too low a score to secure a seat in a government reputed college. However, you may appear for other entrance exams and secure a seat in a reputed institution.
With PCM combination of subjects, you can pursue almost any field you set your mind on. You can ofcourse do Engineering which is a professional degree and has streams such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic and Communication etc. You can do your graduation in subjects of your interest, even switching to Humanities or Commerce streams if you so desire. You can do a BCA (Computer Applications), BBA (Business Administration), Law, Civil Aviation – Pilot, Astronomy, Architecture, Design, Mass Communication, Merchant Navy, Defense Forces, Psychology, Civil Services etc. To decide on the course, you should analyse your strengths, career goals, interests, personality, aptitude and ability. If you decide based on these parameters you will put in your best effort and will be successful.
The admission to the Diploma Engineering Courses is made through the Joint Entrance Test. Candidates who qualify the JET are eligible to apply for admission to various courses being run in the affiliated institutions of the Board. The admission to these institutions will be based on the relative merit of the candidates in the JET in their respective category. All candidates desirous of applying for admission are required to submit admission application form with the requisite fee before the last date fixed for submission of the same.
Those candidates who qualify the JET can apply for the admission to various Institutions affiliated with the Board. Admission will be purely on the inter-se-merit of JET. Candidates desirous to take admission should fill up the admission form, which is included in the prospectus. ENTRY QUALIFICATION: For Diploma (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, ECE, Computer and IT): The Applicant must posses an aggregate of 55% in Mathematics and Science in 10 Std. from CBSE or its equivalent from a recognized Board or Institution. OR 12th Pass with 55% in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from a recognized Board or Institutions. ITI pass outs (who passed at least 10 level school leaving examination before admission to ITI course) & 10+2 pass (Vocational stream) candidates can apply for admission to the relevant branch.
