The tuition fee waiver / concession in IITs and NITs are as follows:

 

For GEN and OBC students having annual family income less than Rs. 1 Lacs and all SC, ST & PwD students: 100% tuition fee waiver. Only fee in other heads like exam fee, hostel and mess fee, gymkhana fee, etc., need to be paid.

For GEN and OBC students having annual family income between Rs. 1 Lacs and Rs. 5 lakh: 2/3rd waiver in tuition fee. Only 33.33% of tuition fee need to be paid.

Yes, the Symbiosis Institute of Design will verify all the information furnished by the candidate in the application form. The verification process will be condcucted at the time of SEED 2025 counseling and seat allotment. So, it is recommended that the candidate only furnishes only genuine and verifiable information in the application form. If incorrect information is submitted, the candidate may face disqualfiication. 

In case the candidate is awarded a seat and is found to be ineligible later on, the seat may be cancelled and allocated to the candidate next in the order of merit.

The eligibility criteria for admission to the B.Des programme will be prescribed by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). Candidate must meet the eligibility criteria. Only then he or she will be offered admission. However, if the candidate fails to meet the eligibility criteria, the candidate can be disqualified at any stage of the admission process. Note that the documents and information submitted by the candidate at the time of submitting the SEED application form will be verified at the time of counseling and seat allotment.

SEED 2026 seat allotment will be made considering the following factors:

  1. Merit rank of the candidate in the SEED written exam

  2. Portfolio Review

  3. PRPI Task

  4. Personal Interaction

Additionally, the information entered by the candidate at the time of filling out the SEED 2026 application form will also be considered. Note that the candidate has to select the B.Des specialisation when applying for SEED 2026.

Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will announce the 1st seat allotment for the B.Des programme in the last week og April 2026. The seat allotment will be announced in the form of a merit list containing the names of candidates shortlisted for admission. Candidates included in the merit list will have to pay the seat-acceptance fee and register online for the B.Des program.

Yes, you will be able to fill round 2 choices even if you missed the deadline for round 1. The choice filling window for round 2 will open after the declaration of round 1 results. You can check the IPU website for the exact dates and deadlines.

There will be no specific counseling registration process for SEED 2026. In fact, candidates will be allocated seats to the B.Des programme based on their merit rank in the SEED 2026 entrance exam.

The merit list will be prepared by considering the cumulative performance of the candidate in the SEED 2026 written exam, Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction. The first merit list cum seat allotment for SEED 2026 will be announced in April 2026. Candidates who are included in the merit list need to pay the seat-acceptance fee and register online for the program.

In the previous edition of the SEED exam, a single seat allotment round was conducted. In the SEED 2025 counseling as well only one round of seat allotment is announced so far.

So, you may not be eligible for admission if you are not included in the 1st list. But that being said, if there are vacant seats left after the 1st round of admission, a 2nd round of allotment will be allocated. 

The details regarding any additional rounds of counseling will be notified on the SID admission portal - sid.edu.in. Note that there is no need to register separately for the 2nd round of counseling.

The seat allotment of SEED 2025 will be announced in the form of a merit list. It will contain details like the seat, specialization, and merit rank of the candidate. To download the seat allotment letter, the candidate will have to log-in to the portal using their candidate log-in details. 

SEED 2025 seat allotment will be based on the merit rank of the candidate and specialisation selected during filling the application form. Candidates who are allotted seats will have to pay the seat-acceptance fee within the given deadline to confirm their seats.

The 1st seat allotment cum merit list of SEED 2025 (B.Des) will be declared on April 21, 2025. Candidates who are allocated seats will have to pay the seat-acceptance fee on or before May 2, 2025. The fee payment schedule has been released by the Symbiosis Institute of Design on its admission portal - sid.edu.in.

If the candidate fails to make the payment within the given deadline, the allotted seat will be canceled and will be allocated to the candidate next in the order of merit. Also, along with the payment of the fees, the candidate will also have to register for the allotted program.

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) doesn’t offer any short term / distance course. Currently, the institute offers only full time UG degree courses. Admission to the 4-year B.Des courses offered by the institute will be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in the SEED 2026 written exam, PRPI and Portfolio Review.

SID presently offers only UG courses in design. So, candidates can’t appear in the SEED 2026 exam for admission to any PG courses. The SEED written exam is administered in the month of January. Candidates who qualify in the written exam has to next appear in a PRPI round. The final merit list for SID will be prepared by considering the performance of the candidate in the SEED 2026 written exam, personal interaction, and PRPI and Portfolio review.

There are currently 180 seats available for the B.Des programme for Indian nationals. There are also 27 supernumerary seats earmarked for international students.
