Indian Industry prefers managers from engineering background. Renowned PSU's recruitment process based on GATE score. And you know it well basic eligibility criteria for GATE is graduation in engineering. So, I think if anybody pursuing B.Tech and want to prosper in Industry, doing MBA is wise for him. Best wishes.

The admission Into IIST and IISER is based on the ranks In JEE only.
So if he wants to take admission into any of the above, he needs to qualify JEE exam.
The other popular engineering entrance exams for the reputed Universities are BITSAT, VITEEE, SRM JEE, MOUET, AEEE etc. These are all India engineering entrances and there are other, state engineering entrance exams also.

Figure out your aptitude first. Take a psychometric test to help you out. There is nothing to be worried about since your aptitude and potential may actually lie in somewhere else. Explore your interests and options. You need not study science if it is a stressful subject for you.

You appear for CAT and apply to FMS by registering and following instructions on the website.
You get shortlisted on the basis of your CAT score (98.6+ percentile is the cut off).
Selection happens on the basis of your CAT score, interview score and extempore score and additional points are given for gender diversity.
You need to have 99.6 percentile or more to have a reasonable chance of getting an admission.
