Minimum Qualifications for direct requirement to the post of Assistant Professor (lecturer) Qualifications for TEACHING POSTS will be as laid down by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and as adopted by the University, from time to time.
i. Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master's Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
iii. Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) above, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or fulfilling the conditions as laid down by the University (Annexure-IV) may be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and
appointment of Assistant Professor in the University.
iv. NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT OF Assistant pfofessor (Lecturer) IN THE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY/ ENGINEERING AND
TECHNOLOGY DISCIPLINE:
i. Essential,
First Class Master's Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering (Engg.) & Technology
(Tech).
ii. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable:
1. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed
organization;
2. Papers presented at Conferences and / or in refereed journals.

Hi,
You can give the exam this year as NET exam is scheduled twice in a year, once in June and then in Dec.
The dates are not out yet but the next attempt of this year will be in December and you have to complete your masters to appear for NET Exam.
Even if you are result awaited for final year of your masters exam or are about to give the final year exams you can apply for NET Exam. You will be admitted provisionally shall be considered eligible for award of assistant professor once you have complete your final year of masters programme.
