Never give up hope! The essay is the perfect forum to explain why your grades were low. Take the GRE and do well. One of the great things about the US is that US universities are forgiving of failures or set backs in life. THey want to see if you have the committment to learn - if you do, they will cheer for you!

Hey Vishvesh, B Schools attach great importance to the GMAT test for two good reasons: it allows the school to compare applicants from different backgrounds according to the same numerical scale; moreover, the average GMAT score is taken into account in the various business school rankings. At most B schools, the GMAT is a deciding element in your application. Along with your undergraduate grades, your score on the GMAT determines your "academic ability". Vishvesh, ITM accepts GMAT scores. For more info please visit ITM Website.
