You can definitely prepare for CAT and if you prepare well you might even get 99+percentile. But, even then getting into an IIM will be quite difficult, because they give a significant weightage to your past academics as well. But, there are also some very good institutes at par with the Iims, who do not give that much weightage to your past academics, provided you have a good profile and a very good percentile in CAT.

But, taking the uniqueness of the roles into consideration, people tend to get good hikes in future. Many top institutes of India like XIMB, TISS SCMHRD, and NMIMS have good placements for HR.
