A few b-schools accept students based on their profile (mostly work-experience). You can look at that. Also IIMs offer interview call to everyone who secures a rank of less than 100 in CAT (irrespective of previous performance). You can look at these options.

Usually, the first list is out by May last week or June first week. Keep checking the Welingkar website regularly around that time.
There are various criteria on which each student is judged. This includes entrance score, GD, PI, psychometric test, creativity test and work ex. Maximum weightage is given to entrance exam scores and PI. According to the performance in each of these, scores are given and that is used to give ranking to each student.

its not like that if you drop your study one year and prepare for entrance exam from kota or delhi at coaching institute you will get better college for engineering and after engineering you will be at better place in future.
if you want admission in a college direct it is only possible in less reputable college your engineering degree value only if it is from good college

Really sorry to say that, but your score is too poor to expect an admission in Jamia Millia Islamia. Well, the list will be solely based on merit so might be you get to waiting list. The mechanical department has too much competition here so you might not be able to make it. Try some other colleges and if you really want to join JMI then try next year. Best Wishes.

To guide you properly I need to know first your interest because there are N number of courses are available after 10th. I strongly advise you to lets complete your 12th first at the same time.
