Most of the MBA colleges follow the same selection process, i. e. exam score, GD and PI. Some colleges conduct WAT as well. The GD is conducted group wise. Each group has 8-10 aspirants who are given a topic to discuss. About 5-10 minutes are given to aspirants for preparing their argument and then the floor is thrown open for discussion. In a group discussion, the panelists adjudge the candidates ability to hold a discussion, lead a discussion and convince a group of people. In WAT, candidates are given a topic to write short essay of 200-300 words. Through WAT, panelists check candidate's knowledge, clarity of thoughts and communication ability. In PI round, candidates are judged upon their interpersonal skills and overall personality.

The tuition fee of the B.Tech programme is comparatively higher for NIT Bhopal ( B.Tech: INR 5.77 Lacs - INR 7.18 Lacs) than for NIT Jalandhar (BTech: INR 1.67 Lacs). NIT Jalandhar recorded the highest package of INR 1.20 crore per annum (BTech) during the placement drive of 2023. About 117 visited during the placement drive 2023. As per the latest placement data available for NIT Bhopal, the highest and average package offered during MANIT Bhopal placements 2022 stood at INR 85.36 LPA and INR 11.55 LPA, respectively. As per the above data can be observed that NIT Jalandhar is affordable for students and offers better placement opportunities to its students when compared with NIT Bhopal.
