Certified Public Accountant is a certification in accounting, auditing and taxation in the US, Singapore, Australia and many other nations.
Its direct comparable in India would be Chartered Accountant (CA) designation offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
Whatever the designation, the idea boils down to one fact, that it is a degree in accountancy, auditing and taxation.
1. The openings available to CPA degree holders are in Banking, Insurance, Corporate Sectors and Finance, Leasing Companies. Even organisations like Railways, Reserve Bank of India and Financial Institutions like ICICI, IDBI, IFCI and UTI have given due recognition.
2. It is a self study program. However, you cannot take the U.S. CPA Exam anywhere other than the U.S.
