Presidential Scholars

The award is given to students who wish to study abroad in their junior and sophomore years. For presidential students, the following scholarships are available:

Fund for International Studies from the Jerome L. Greene Foundation, up to $10,000
Award of $2000 under the Jodi Tilton Memorial Scholarship for Summer Study Abroad.
Up to $5,000 in Henry Wolf Presidential Scholars Summer Abroad Scholarships

Rothman Fellowships

Students who want to take part in the FIT study abroad programme are given the Rothman scholarship. Each student receives a $1,500 award. The requirements for eligibility include:

• Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate programme, either full-time or part-time.
• must have earned a 3.0 GPA or above.
• They must have finished a course in educational skills

The following criteria will be used to choose the winner:

• a curriculum vitae and a personal statement outlining your motivation for choosing to study abroad
• a letter of recommendation from a FIT professor not part of the department of educational skills

Study Abroad Grants from the Institute for International Educations (IIE)

Candidates are provided with a variety of fellowships, grants, paid internships, and study abroad scholarships for American undergraduate, graduate, and professional students under this programme.

A member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services must vouch for your official secondary or post-secondary school credentials before you can submit them. 

For undergraduate students, the official credentials from the secondary or post-secondary institution must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. When the secondary school does not anticipate a transfer of credit, it is crucial to offer a document-wise review that addresses the following:

a) Average Grade Point Score (CGPA) 
b) Transcripts 

The Fashion Institute of Technology requests a course-by-course evaluation to see whether the transfer of credentials is possible. The evaluation must provide the name of the course, the US credit equivalent, and the US grade equivalent. Additionally, it must include the following:

• US equivalency of each credential of school

All overseas applicants must meet the requirements listed below in order to be considered for admission to SUNY FIT -

1) Submit an online application for SUNY.
2) The applicant must hold credentials comparable to those from an official secondary school in the United States. Transcripts must be delivered in English directly to FIT from the relevant schools. They can be sent by mail or delivered personally to the institute address in a sealed envelope.

Your cost will also include direct expenses (which includes the tuition as well as any fees), indirect expenses (which includes books and supplies, personal expenses, and transportation). As per estimates on the University's official website, you are likely to spend -

Transcripts
You must have a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services member examine your academic credentials. If transfer credit is not expected, secondary education qualifications should either be evaluated generally or document by document if transfer credit is not anticipated.
The assessment must include:

• Your credentials' U.S. equivalent
• Grade Point Average (GPA)
• a copy of every document that was published in English or that was translated into English
• The day and month of each Diploma was issued

For post-secondary education and/or secondary education where transfer credit may be awarded, you will be required to provide a course by course evaluation. The assessment must include:

• US Equivalence for each school diploma
• Grade Point Average (GPA) for each academic qualification
• the month and year that any secondary or post secondary degrees were completed 

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TESTS
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Pearson Test of English (PTE), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or a Duolingo score must be submitted by students whose first language is not English.

F1 Status
After being accepted, you must submit the International Student Financial Statement (ISFS) if you need the F-1 student status in order to attend FIT. The I-20 Form, Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status, which is required to submit an application for an F-1 visa, can only be issued if this document is accepted by FIT.

You will be required to submit official credentials from the secondary or post-secondary school verified by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
