If you have maths as a subject in XII board then you can join BCA followed by MCA to become a software engineer. If you do not have maths as a subject, you can still join BCA but your college/ university options will be lesser as the majority of universities/ colleges eligibility criteria for BCA is maths in class XII board. For example, you can join BCA offered by IGNOU with Maths.

Hello Kiran,
After completing class 12th, you need to appear for various entrance examinations. I would suggest you to appear for IIT JEE and AIEEE. These two entrance examinations provide admissions to IITs/ NITs and other government colleges, which are cost-effective.
I would also suggest you to appear for individual state examinations (OJEE in Odisha, EAMCET in Andhra Pradesh/ Telangana, COMEDK in Karnataka, etc.). These exams also guarantee you good colleges and serve as a backup in case things don't end up the way you've planned for IIT/ AIEEE.

Hello Niharika, What matters most is the abilyif the student. An average student will get admission in an average college only. Fees are these days, are regulated by a committee and hence no college can charge exorbitant fees. You will get admission in college depending on your rank in your state's CET.
