Regarding preparation of CAT test I would suggest you to start with self-preparation and stick to it for few weeks and revise your class 10 and 12th maths (CBSE/ICSE if possible) to strengthen your basics.
After getting familiar with the basics then you may consider joining some good coaching institute in your city which offers quality coaching for CAT and various other management entrance tests.
After joining a coaching institute the number of hours that you are required to put in depends on your individual aptitude.
If you are currently pursuing graduation then for you minimum of 3-4 hours of self study apart from caching is a must.
