First of all, I am from VIT-Vellore. It is in Tamil Nadu, but as much as I know about these two colleges you discussed above, VJTI is the best option to go with. You have already got IT in Pune. Lock that seat and wait for results of fourth round of counselling of VJTI. But, you also need to see the branch of interest, if you like coding and stuff like that go for IT. Branch matters a lot. I will stress on this point "branch selection is very important so be cool and decide which branch you like, never undermine this point.

If your goal is to get placed sooner than opt for B.Tech only. M.Tech is not very helpful in placement and it also takes a longer time. Geology engineers are mostly hired in land and surveying companies like Reliance, L&T, etc. , are some of the top players.

You can get insights about the two courses and then decide as what will be better for you. The difference between a PGDBA and an MBA is that only colleges affiliated to universities provide Masters in Business administration but colleges with no such affiliation offer PGDBA at their institutions. They offer only PG Diplomas. The only difference between these two is that you cannot go for the research programme, Ph.D. in Management.
