If you have interest in B.TECH. then you can drop one year and prepare for the entrance for next year, and if you have made your mind for B.Sc. then it is not a bad thing to do seeing the career opportunities.

If you do not have any RE left at the end of your 7 semesters then you have a bright chance of getting a job even with average percentage. But if you have RE then it is difficult. And keep in mind not to get any in the final year.
