54 is too low a score to secure a seat in a government reputed college. However, you may appear for other entrance exams and secure a seat in a reputed institution.

Prathmesh, If you are confused about careers after 12th/ graduation, there are a few ways to approach this. If you are very good with maths and programming, opt for Computers (BTech or BCA). I am not sure how good you are with maths and programming. If you are, then you must pick up Programming and take a language whether PHP/ HTML5 (web dev), .Net (for software dev) Java/ Android (for apps) or C#/ Unity (for games). However like i mentioned, you must be good with programming to move ahead in this area since you have to compete with MCAs and BTech(CS) applicants. So choose your internship/ industrial training very carefully. Do not just go for the cheapest to save money. See the IT company's credentials on the net. for example if someone provide LIVE PROJECTS are they there near the TOP on PORTALS like JUSTDIAL? Or if the company is registered with STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) - all good IT companies are registered with STPI. If a company spends money to market themselves to customers, only then they are able to get LIVE PROJECTS. Also, if you are an average programmer, and if you you're better with creative work, then you can head for web design or even vfx/ animation since there is a huge requirement coming up in that domain. There is also an intermediate path in games design and development. If you are good with Drawing and Creative opt for Design (Animation, VFX, Games, Fashion). If you are good with words become a writer (content, news, fiction, ads) or director. If you are good with keeping records go for Accounts or Stats or administration. If you are good with logic go for Law. If you are good at memorizing and love nature go for medical. If you are good with people go for Management. If you are good with nothing become a politican (haha, pun intended - actually you need very good insight into future for this). Wish you the best for your career. In regards to your question, whether there is any difference in Correspondence and Regular course, i would say it varies from one subject to the other also from one degree to the other. However in general a course through distance learning does not have as much value as the regular one so if you can do a regular course, it would hold a lot of importance and thus be a much better option. The acceptability and recognition of a full time course is higher in industry and the long term career gains are good. Correspondence courses are ideally meant for those who are working and cannot leave their jobs to further their education. It is only to leverage ones experience and not so much as a stand alone degree. The employ-ability of a full time degree holder is the most and those with a distance education degree may face a drawback as far as employment options with MNCs are concerned. However, what is also relevant is your experience; skills and profile should match the profile needed for the job and organization. Thus it would be best for you to pursue a full time course.

After completing class 12th with Commerce stream you may consider pursuing some of the below mentioned courses:
-Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)
- Bachelor in Accounting and finance (BAF)
- Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA)
- Bachelor in Hotel Management (BHM)
- Bachelor in Mass Media (BMM)
The above mentioned course can be pursued in full time mode or through distance education.
Besides the above mentioned course you may even consider pursuing:

Difference Between BTech and BSc:-
B.Tech. is a professional Bachelors' degree program whereas B.Sc. is only an academic Science graduation course. B Tech stands for Bachelor of Technology whereas B.Sc. is Bachelor of Science. Since B Tech is an engineering graduation, B Tech students have to study the vast techniques involved in a particular subject. They have to study about the processes involved in designing new instruments, techniques or programs, which comes under their field of study. On the contrary, B.Sc. graduates may have to study the working principles about an instrument or a process that is included in their curriculum.
Duration of B Tech and B.Sc. programs:-
Although both these are graduation programs, B Tech is a four year duration course. Aspirants can complete the B.Sc. programs within three years. Engineering colleges offer the B Tech programs whereas aspirants have to pursue the B.Sc. programs from Science and Arts colleges.
