Hi, Before you think about selecting a college, you should first think about the field in which you want to make your career. After that, you should check for the best colleges in your reach by visiting the college campuses. Every student has a different perspective of a good college, for some, it is the academics that matters, for some it is the academics plus the other co-curricular activities that a college organizes. It's not necessary that you opt for IITs or NITs, you should look for all the things that you want in a college or a university. Definitely, it matters if you select the best colleges as they will provide you with the best interns and placements but there is much more than academics in a college. If you are interested in other activities also then you should look for a college that provides the students with both good academics and other co-curricular events that helps a student to grow mentally too. Look for what is good for you and if you are comfortable with the college and its surroundings. Hope it helped.

The first thing you should do is to decide your interest and what you want to gain from a college. If you have selected your stream then which is the best college offering this course, search all this. The main parameters for college selection are: Infrastructure Campus placements Faculty of your department Campus and crowd life Course curriculum These are the most important things while selecting a college. The faculty and campus placements are the major parts of your knowledge would be totally based on faculty performance and development in studies. Their experience will help you in making a decision for further studies. The campus placements are the most important part. If the college you have selected is not providing placements then you have to take more efforts to get the job in the industry. If you get placed in your college, then it is the best thing you have done in your whole academics because getting a job is very difficult as of current conditions. Infrastructure and campus life matters for the freshness of mind and personality development due to active participation in programmes like technical event, sports event.

Firstly, check whether you are eligible to apply to the branch in that college, then advance your research sky the college. Search for the faculty in the department and different lab facilities, etc. You can check the placement statistics too, but not necessarily. Because if you good in your field you'll get placed anyways. Check how many opportunities that college will open to you and how well connected that college is with other academic institutions, etc. If you particular about living conditions, etc. then find out about hostel and mess facilities too though they are really trivial contributing factors. Do ask someone from that institution because first-hand feedback is true and better than Google searches. Make sure you are particular about your choice of course as you wouldn't want to regret it mid way through the course. Good luck.

The most important decision in the student's life is to decide which path of career he/she should follow to make the career promising in the future. So, for that promising career, you have to decide on what path you want to go. In India, there are 3 types of options for higher education viz engineering, management and science studies. Apart from these are other modern courses coming up but I am telling about traditional courses. So, for deciding the path which you want to go with will take to you the next level. For that, you have to select the college and for that, following parameters should be kept in mind:- -University/Institute -Faculty -Infrastructure -Collaborations -Placements -Curriculum -Other co-curricular activities If these are decided then you need to next decide that which stream to want to opt for among engineering, management and science. For these, three are some different as well as same parameters which depend on what you want to opt for: For engineering:- -Research laboratory -Faculty -Infrastructure collaboration -R&D -Placements For management:- -Indystry collaboration -seminars - Mentoring -Persobality development -Placements -Curriculum etc. These are the main things that you should keep in mind while making your careers during college. Hi, It is a question which puzzles everyone. I would suggest starting with rankings of the college. Check the rankings on various trusted sources online but don't use it as absolute selection criteria. Firstly look for the old IITs, then top 3 NITs and BITS and other tier-1 colleges. While comparing these colleges take into consideration the following factors- 1. Brand value - This is really important. The name of the college you graduated from will stay with you for the rest of your life. It will also play a vital role while going for future studies. 2. Placements - Of course everyone wants a good package and work for a big company. So see the placement reports of the colleges properly. 3. Branches available - Some colleges provide some branches which are not available in other colleges. Like IIT Bombay provides engineering physics which are provided only by a few colleges. 4. Location and infrastructure - You should be able to spend 4 years of your life there. This factor would come into place for tier 1 colleges other than IITs, NITs, etc. So go ahead and make a wise choice.

College plays very important role in one's career. Students generally get confused between two or three colleges. I have seen many questions on Shiksha related to this. There are certain parameters which student should keep in his/her mind while choosing a god college. 1.Infrastructure: Well this is the most important thing.Infrastructure keeps changing. A good college should have a good infrastructure. 2.Quality of crowd: A college having good quality students will automatically have competitive environment inside the campus. 3.Placement: Percentage of students getting placed. 4.Ranking of the college: This may be a good factor but not compulsory. A good college may have low ranking. 5.Faculty: Colleges have qualified faculties may change one's career. 6.Location: You should give first priority to the colleges near your home town. You are going to spend your precious 4-years of your life. So take your time, do a little research and choose wisely. I will suggest you to visit the campus and talk to current students.
