What is B.Tech through lateral entry?

Hello,
A lateral entry student is the one who directly enters into the second year of his engineering. He/she must have completed a Diploma in their respective branch to be eligible for the lateral entry programme. After completing the Diploma, he/she writes a special examination for enrollment in an institute. -
B.Tech through lateral entry is for Diploma students in the respective field. You get admission directly in the 2nd year and you complete B.Tech in 3 years. However, you have to clear some 1st-year subjects too. -
Those who have completed three years recognised Polytechnic Diploma and have cleared state level lateral entry admission test can seek admission through lateral entry scheme to third semester of a B Tech programme at government aided, self financing and private aided colleges in the state.

In the first year in B.Tech, syllabus of all the engineering branch is same. That's why Diploma holder may take admission in Direct 2nd year. If you had did Diploma after 10th or 12th, then you can go for lateral entry in B.Tech in which you will get admission in 2nd year of B.Tech directly.
