What is the difference between MS and M.Tech and what are the various sectors for MS?

The basic difference between M.Tech (M.E) and M. S. is that M.Tech is a course centric programme focused mainly toward Industries and M. S is a research centric programme.
1. First and foremost, admission to an M.Tech programme depends on the candidate GATE score and in some case Institutes Internal tests, whereas, admission to an M. S. programme depends on the score of the entrance exam as well as the interview round.
2. In M.Tech, the student is trained to work in an industry as well as take up some research work. As far as M. The M.Tech has a course duration of strictly 2 years, after which the students get there degree. However, the course duration of M. S. can extend even up to 3 or 4 years, depending on the status of the project. The M. S. degree is granted to the student only on completion of the project taken up.
