Dear Appoorv, As a Civil Engineer, you can take up career options in diverse fields such as Building control surveyor, CAD technician, Consulting civil engineer, Contracting civil engineer, Design Engineer, Nuclear Engineer, Site Engineer, Structural engineer, Water engineer, Rural and Urban Transport engineer. My friend did B.Tech in Civil from LPU and working as a Design Engineer in an MNC. The following are the highlights of Civil engineering in LPU: - 1. Most of the faculty staff are from reputed organizations with their the highest degree from various reputed institutes such as IITs, NITs, etc. Apart from that, faculty have got previous industrial experience also. 2. The capstone project is an integral part of B.Tech programme in which students have to pick a live project based on the practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills. 3. There is an internship programme which could be an opportunity for getting work experience and increase your chance to get employment after you pass out. But, of course, your academic record should be good to get this placement option. 4. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can SEE actual construction work going on. Be prepared to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). Every B.Tech stream has a good scope. The only thing is, you have to achieve above 78% in it. What matters in the end is the percentage and knowledge that you have gained there. If your percentile is low, your degree is useless in any stream.

B.Tech in civil engineering is more or less same as in other countries are in India only different it make is the competition which you would be facing after your graduation or a job. Scope of civil engineering more or less remains the same but with increase technology in the field of construction today the demand for the skilled civil engineers expert in a particular technologies are in great demand so if you have a specific knowledge about Technologies then you are good to go with the prospect of future civil engineer. Civil Engineering is one of the core branches of Engineering it is the branch which is the base of many Constructions there is lot of scope in it you can get a job in the government sector under the Civil Engineer post which is highly reputed.
