Hi, Journalism nowadays is good career option if you are good with few set of skills. First and the most important thing to be a journalist is to decide what kind of journalist you want to be, whether you want to be a newspaper journalist, a fashion magazine journalist or a TV journalist, or you want to convey the news or you want to be a collector of the news . There are various types of journalism courses. You have to decide depending on your skills and keep your focus on the audience. Some common skills are that you should be creative with your words and your words should be catchy so that the audience gets attracted to what you are writing or speaking.

To be fair, journalism is the merely democratic career out there - what you do from day one is precisely what senior journalists do every day. As a journalist, you get to work from the get-go. That is great. The hours are not. The resentment and hate with which everyone outside treats you are not. If you are okay with having to fight all the time then maybe you will be good as that is what a journalist does to get to the truth every day. Every day I worked, I would stir up with that same question – What’s the story today? I stopped thinking about what I wanted to report on, what was significant. I almost would hope every morning that something somewhere would go wrong and I’d get a good story. I truly was like a fly, focusing on news in life and hovering around to report on it. Being a journalist will wield you a lot of power and if you are a novice and make a mistake, you need to have the heart to see the consequences of your action unfold in the lives of people you write about.

Hello, It is really very important for a person getting into the field of journalism to develop a good skill in reading, writing and communicating. For this field, language proficiency is really very much important. Apart from this it is really essential for you to develop your knowledge bank and collect as much as knowledge you can on every small and the biggest topic because journalists are known to be the most knowledgeable person, this knowledge helps them to build a unique kind of satisfaction and confidence in them. This confidence ultimately gives them the power to speak publicly in a much frank and friendly way. When you will ever go for an interview in any media house or organisation, the interviewer will try to know how much you are knowledgeable besides checking out your knowledge bank they will try to know that how much active you are and how rapidly you can pass the answer to any question. One more thing that you have to make very much clear that half and inappropriate knowledge is always harmful so try to be specific and correct at your point because one mistake means you are expelled out from the media organisation. Now, talk about the three essential skills- 1) Reading 2) Writing 3) Communicating. For making these three strong, it’s really important to make your language perfect either its English or Hindi. And it also can be any other language apart from Hindi and English. In our country we have abundance of Hindi newspaper, channel, magazines, etc. so it is indicated that one can also get proficiency in Hindi. Proficiency means proper knowledge of literature, grammar, vocabulary, types of sentences of that language. Proficiency doesn't means to avoid English, it is essential to have minor knowledge of English too. Apart from this, be punctual, be alert, maintain timeliness, be a hard worker, be an optimistic person, be curious, be an investigator. That's all what you need to prepare. Reading and Writing Ability: Should be able to read, write and speak in any common language (preferably English) spoken by a majority of people around the world. 3. Patient Listener: Should be a patient listener and be able to draw a good conclusion on record on whatever you listened to. 4. Good knowledge of Local language: This will enhance your ability in the field of journalism as the local people with whom you interact will feel free to speak and give you the maximum information required by you. 5. You must always keep in your mind that you should always be impartial in your views and should be able to listen to both the side of the story. The work that a journalist or a scribe or a media person does is based on multiple skills and strengths. The first and foremost quality needed these days is to have the readiness to take up task. Journalists are those people who do journalism. We know journalist as a person who either works for a newspaper/magazine or for a TV news channel. People working on any kind of news sharing platform are generally known as media persons or journalists. Now, let's come to the process of becoming a journalist. Refer to what the journalists do. If one starts getting the news published or aired on electronic channels, it is said to be a journalist. There are local, national and international media organizations that recognize and hire people with 'communicative competence', public relation skills, language skills as well as very strong general awareness. Reporting an event or happening is the basic work that is done. The standard process these days is to possess a degree in journalism-mass communication-media studies-public relations. While doing the course, media houses are approached by students for training and placements, and hence the jobs come. Media houses prefer people with academic credentials these days.
