LPU provides Experiential learning by Regular Open House Discussions in order to generate awareness about contemporary issues to identify corresponding legal challenges and implications. The Alumni are working as Judicial officers, Legal practitioners, and Corporate advisors, and Civil servants. Law department at LPU is one of the first departments that came up when LPU was taking its shape. According to NIRF ranking the Law School is ranked 24th. The vision of the school is studying by books is not a rule of Law. The course aims at preparing the students with an interest to pursue legal education with social sciences to benefit society. Creation of well trained and dedicated professionals in the legal framework. It also aims at nurturing a graduate with in depth knowledge of different aspects of laws comprising civil, criminal, taxation and international laws and ensuring conceptual clarity for judicial services aspirants. Law students are prepared to spot legal issues from a set of hypothetical facts and brainstorm various legal consequences, to be a perfect legal professional. The courses are approved by the Bar Council of India. The Career guidance magazine Higher Education Review has recognised Law School at Lovely Professional University among top-ten most promising institutions of India for its capability of producing next-gen legal professionals. The eligibility criteria for the course is 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with English or equivalent. For a candidate, who has not studied English as a subject, the condition of English may be waived off provided the candidate in his qualifying exam has studied in English medium. For SC ST applicants there is 5 percent relaxation while there is 3 percent relaxation for the OBC candidates. In addition to it, for North East states and Sikkim candidates/ Defence Personnel and their Dependents/ Wards of Kashmir Migrants) too there is 5 percent relaxation. LPU provides Experiential learning by Regular Open House Discussions to generate awareness about contemporary issues to identify corresponding legal challenges and implications. Effective learning, according to LPU, occurs outside of the classroom. As a result, students are motivated to augment their classroom learning by engaging in specially organized moot court and debate competitions. Moot Court contests held around the country have rewarded LPU Law students with awards. Moot court tournaments have also been held at the university on a national level. In addition, the department invites eminent guest lecturers from the legal profession, such as Advocate Rajiv Kumar, Advocate-On-Record (Supreme Court of India), to talk and encourage future lawyers. Anup, LPU is one of the best universities in the country with world class infrastructure, modern facilities and highly qualified faculty, some of them had been practising lawyers of High Courts and respectable Supreme Court as well. Students are given a lot of practical knowledge by regularly taking them on visits to court and jail premises as well as they are made to participate in moot courts. Apart from this, they are also sent on internship wherein they get a chance to learn the nuances of the field under the guidance of practising lawyers. The university has been ranked high by outer agencies also with regard to placements of our students. LPU provides ample opportunities to each and every of the eligible students to secure good placement. Special inputs in the form of placement classes are given to students. The curriculum taught incorporates specific courses (subjects) under the notion of Professional Enhancement Programmes (PEP) in which the students are prepared to crack the placement processes. PEP classes start right away from the first semester itself in form of Communication Skills and continue till the final semester covering: Analytical Skills (Logic Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning) Quantitative Aptitude Skills Technical Aptitude Skills Presentations and Soft Skills Mock Exercises (Mock Interviews, GDs, Mock Tests, etc.) All a student has to do is to maintain a good academic record and personality to ensure his/her placement.
