See, in India, as of now, the increasing scope is of electronics only as there are very less manufacturing plants in India and only some companies are coming to India that will hire mechanical engineers, but in the electronics field, this is totally opposite and more and more companies are setting up there manufacturing plants in India.

First of all, electronics engineering is yet not too famous in India. It has very good pay scale if you really work in the electronic companies. Some of the electronic engineers also get job in computer science field. While mechanical engineering is also very good branch if you get government job here, then you can have a good pay scale. So, take any branch in engineering doesn't matter but you have to be excel in that field to have a good pay scale.
    Best of luck.
