    Mechanical is a large field as compared to automobiles so u should go for mechanical.

    both 2 streams r partially common but mechanical is better then automobile.it has more job options

    mechanical is a huge subject and it has a huge number of application in many field like automobile, Energy, power, aeronautical, space etc,Its is one of the core subjects.
    So ovio mechanical is a better field.
    The most imp thing is What you like? in which field you have interest.

    mechanical is the core branch.
    so you can work in mechanical as well as automobile industry after BTech in mech.
    bt automobile is sister branch so it reduces the further options of job. one can't apply in all mechanical related companies with BTech in automobile.
    so think accordingly, if you are seriously interested in automobile engg. then don't think according to this point of view.just ho for automobile engg.
    or else go for mechanical engg.
