Go for CSE but only if you have interest.

It depends on you. Your liking matters, if you are interested in programming and all you opt for CSE. You will get a wide range of opportunities in future. Placement and package: In a Tier 2 College in India, as a mechanical engineering student & I can tell you in terms of job placements, almost all Computer/IT students have been placed, even Electronics students got placed in computer field. Average salary is 4lpa while the highest is 8lpa (16 students placed). But, the mechanical scenario is not that good now as only one boy has got placed with INR 4 LPA in the core branch while others are still struggling. There are more jobs in CSE...more

Hi,
I'll prefer you to opt for the CSE engineering as this branch is the evergreen branch for India, and you can easily grab job in this field very easily. Good luck. -
Hi,
The most important factor is interest but still, if you don't know your interest, you have to choose between a career in AC room with a computer or on the production line. If we look at the present scenario, almost everything is automated which increases the scope for computer engineering but mechanical is an evergreen branch so you don't need to worry if you choose mechanical. Make sure you learn well during 4-years of engineering which will help you in getting a good job ahead. -
Computer Science and Engineering is no doubt a better one but many find its scope same as mechanical engineering and that's because if you are knowledgeable enough then you can also make a good career in the mechanical engineering field.

Both the streams are most opted streams in engineering and the scope is also good in both the streams, it entirely depends on your interest and inclination
