7 years agoAs a young and fresh executive, you are always in a dilemma what road to take a startup or corporate. Both have some merits and demerits. But it is a question of your career; any wrong move and your career will go downhill. In this situation, a candidate has to act smart.
Both set-ups have their own positive and negative aspects. Startup offers challenging environment, personal success, job satisfaction, recognition, a friendly atmosphere and more. But at the same time, it does not give you job security, handsome perks and remunerations, time to mingle with family etc.
On the other hand, corporations are full of benefits like relaxation,...more -
Being a fresh aspirant of MBA, you should definitely work in the startup company because a startup company will make you learn from top to bottom functionalities. You will get so much of exposure in the start up's in their initial stage starting from their supply chain, their cost evolved (in advertising) and how they are making strategies in making their brand exist in the market. MNC's are already in a developed stage. They themselves are renowned. In startups, you can come up with any experiment in the strategies whereas in MNCs you have to follow their strategies.
For instance: If Nike has to make some marketing strategies then they...more -
It is really a doubtful question for every fresher after MBA, that whether to work in MNC or in Startups. So, according to me, one must start his or her career by looking out the job profile of a company. One must not see whether it is an MNC or a startup, but must consider job role or job profile or Job description. And, on the basis of job description, he or she must take decision about which company to join. One must join the company where the candidate must able to explore things or get challenging work from that company. Such company will help u grow in future and will help candidate to climb the corporate ladder. We can see, that...more

Hi,
If I were in your place I would choose a startup because of following reasons-
1) Responsibility - Having a big impact on the growth of a company vs. being another cog in a wheel. Also, having a wide-range of responsibilities.
2) Culture/People - I find entrepreneurs and people that work at startups to be the coolest people ever. Not just cool, but also some of the most intelligent and hardworking. Working with others who are extremely talented, passionate about the company's mission and driven, is amazing.
3) Work Environment - It's extremely fast-paced and competitive. It's a roller coaster ride - a lot of ups and downs. Every day is...more -
First of all, you should see whether you are getting a role in the field in which you are really interested or not. The role will help you in better synchronization with the company. So choose the role first.
MNC and start-ups are both good options to work with. If MNC being offered is having a good brand name and package then you can go for MNC instead of a start-up as brand name do matter in the market.
Coming to start-ups, they have their own set of advantages, you will be getting an idea of the overall experience of all the roles which are performed in big companies at a single place. Start-ups offer less package as compared to MNCs...more -
Everyone has a dream to follow and some say that it's better to work on one's dream than to work in an MNC and work on others dream, but being a fresher, it is obviously hard to manage and start a startup without any prior experience in the particular field. Start-up will teach you a lot but with some experience in a particular field you won't commit much mistakes and you will also be able to work with all kind of people and have a good idea of how to get work done from others apart from this, the competition is tough and to run a startup, you need to raise funds too. To get the experience for fundraising, MNC will be a better option....more

For a fresh MBA graduate, it is very difficult to decide whether to join a startup or an MNC. As like a coin has two sides, this decision also has its own positive and negative aspects. Startups offer new challenges, new environment to face, personal as well as organization success, job satisfaction, easy recognition, a more friendly atmosphere as compared to MNC. But this is also agreed that they are not as effective as MNCs. It may sometimes happen that the startup might fall and there is no job security too. This may frighten a person and him/her gets in a dilemma. But if a startup grows, you will get more to learn because it is the...more

Startup and MNCs both have their side of stories to start with. I myself being a fresher understand the conflict that students go through when we have to choose between MNC and startup. As per my view it is more beneficial to start with an MNC, this is because you will get the right kind of environment you want as a fresher which will ultimately lead to your growth and help you prosper well in future. No doubt Startup's teach us a lot and provide flexible work environment but they sometimes can't be that effective as MNC can be in executing and implementation.
Years and years of experience in MNCs will teach a person a lot and give han...more -
Your decision will be based on the below points
1. Salary: A start-up salary will be lower compared to MNCs but your participation in job roles will be vast and you could learn a lot of things at a time. Your salary will be dependent on the funds are given to the start-up. MNCs, pay well due to the resources and profits they have.
2. Responsibility & recognition: In a start-up, each role is linked with responsibilities. You might have to work for long hours with more pressure and more responsibilities. But, with bigger responsibilities come bigger prizes both at professional and personal levels. Your good work can earn profits to the org...more
