Yes, you can go ahead with statistics. If you are a working professional in the field related to statistics. M.Sc in statistics will give you an extra edge in the professional world. Statistics and its application with modern tools and technique is of high demand and used everywhere like - production, marketing, sales etc. Statistical analysis is an inevitable part to control and guide for the business growth.
So, I think you are rightly thinking of Statistics. As you are thinking for distance mode of study - you may think for a course titled 'Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics' offered by IGNOU.
However, go ahead based on your best interest.

Dear Baby!
Currently, you are on the wrong path if you are willing to be astronaut and working in a IT company. The more sophisticated way is to continue your studies.
(1) Do your Master in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology, Kerala.
(2) Hence after you MUST have to do Ph.D. in that particular subject from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. (*I hope you know why I am mentioning the name of specially these institution).
You know that Astronaut are not like regular employee for space organisation. They are specially build person hired (or trained) for a particular mission. So, don't think that ISRO or NASA or ESA are always recruit Astronauts. They don't do so, unless they plans a manned mission for space region or for ISS. Another thing I would like to say is about your physical fitness. You have to be 100% fit not just from your physic but also from your mind (mental stability). (#) Astronaut is not a position. So, there is no special degree for that. Your Steller academic background, your physical, mental, emotional, biological stability/fitness and the hardcore training will help you to be astronaut. (#) Be in contact with ISRO and its operations. B.Tech in CS is not bad but not a wise choice for Space Science. But this may helps you in Rocket Simulation.

In general Candidate Profile for Freshers for cabin crew is as under :
Age:Between 18 and 27 years
Minimum Height:Men - 170 cms and Women - 157 cms
Weight:In proportion to height
Educational Qualification:HSC (10 + 2). Candidates who are appearing for their HSC examinations can also apply
Physical features:Pleasing personality, clear complexion (scars, pimples and blemishes not acceptable) and good eyesight
Marital Status:Unmarried
Language skills:Fluency in English and Hindi. Proficiency in a foreign language will be an added advantage. Interactive skills:Excellent communication and good interpersonal skills
Nationality:Indian citizens only
Passport:Must possess a valid Indian passport or should have applied for a passport
Mandatory Documentation :Must possess a Pan Card and Aadhaar Card
So that becomes very clear that it merely requires some grooming to GET the job of a cabin crew. They don't demand much from candidates. You should be interpersonal sound and capable to handle people from different cultures. Cabin crew is the face of the airline. Coz they face the passengers for the first time. Foreign languages like German, French, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese, Can allow you to GET an edge over others. As this allows the airline to roster you on routes where such languages are spoken.
