Career in aviation as pilot, is possible through two routes:-
1. By joining Indian Air Force(IAF)
2. by acquiring CPL through private means.
Selection in IAF is through CDS exam(after graduation) or NDA exam after10+2. For detailed instructions visit www.careerairforece.nic.in. Maths, English and Physics is common requirement for both cases. Eye sight has to be 6/6 with or without specs. After selection to NDA written exam, SSB interview and Pilot aptitude test have to be passed.
Minimum age for PPL is 16 years of age, followed by CPL. Physical fitness certificates is required from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved Doctor. (Medical - II) Education qualification is 10+2
You will have to pass written exams conducted by DGCA (which is arranged by the flying club from where you are training) “185 hrs single engine, 15 hrs multi engine and 20 hrs simulator flying is required for CPL licence.
Approximate cost of CPL licence is Rs. 25-35 Lac including flying and examination cost. Lodging & boarding charges are extra for outstation candidates.
Each state has many flying schools but check before joining that they are DGCA approved and their training aircraft are fly-worthy.
