You must clear your basics first, GMAT is a test and has no eligibility. You can come from any background. You would need a work experience if you are planning for MBA abroad. This work experience can be any from government job to a cleric. I will strongly request you go through ets.org/TOEFL and IELTS.org and MBA.com, you will find the test schedules here, you can schedule the test as per your convenience, that is you can take the English test after GMAT or before hand, it is your choice.

Eligibility criteria for IIT JAM
All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor’s degree.
At least 55 percent aggregate marks, without rounding off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for general and OBC/NCL category candidates, and at least 50 percent aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PWD Category candidates in the qualifying degree course.
