Since you have mentioned about the GMAT, i assume you want to pursue MBA or any other management related program. There is no right time or wrong time to take the GMAT. The only 2 conditions are that you should take the GMAT only and only when you feel you are 100% prepared and you should take the GMAT atleast 20 days before the deadline of the university you are applying to. Provided you are not prepared by that particular deadline, you should postpone your applying plans and target the next deadline of the university but should make sure that you are prepared for the GMAT.
