MBA at IEM Kolkata is okay type. You can expect average package of 3-5lpa in IT companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Capgemini etc. These companies visit the campus for recruitment. If you don't have any other options available and you are financially good, then only take admission in this college. Because, even after completing your MBA, you may end up without getting any job. Best of luck.

After going through your description, I would say that there is no reason for a company to not shortlist you for their placements. Provided you are able to explain your history in the best possible way. Highlight your experiences and justify it with key reasons. In the end, companies really don't care whether you have a gap of one year or so, they look for candidates that suit the companies requirements, such as knowledge, skills, attitude, etc.
