Actually, to get a good college you are advised to write the entrance exams and for universities like JEE (for NITs, IIITs and IITs), BITSAT, VIT, SRM, Manipal University, Amrita University, etc.
These are some of the top colleges in India that are placed in top 50 rankings of engineering colleges.
There are some colleges (mostly government) that admit based on your 12th board exam marks.
For engineering, you need to choose a best college.

I would suggest you to go for Manav Rachna International University than DIT Dehradun because of placements, infrastructure, surrounding, good exposure, faculty, and many other facilities. So go for it.
