As mentioned on the website, SMU being a University (duly recognized by the UGC) is authorized to start and conduct new programmes/courses, without obtaining prior approval of the AICTE.
As for DEC approval, it has expired. So, you can wait till the university get its renewal or you may try for other options such as-
1. IGNOU
2. MIT School of Distance Education and Jaipur National University (UGC, DEC, AICTE approved)
3. Microtek College of Management & Technology, Varanasi
Simultaneously, you can opt for industry relevant certifications which are designed basically to provide an extra edge to an individual by giving them an in-depth knowledge in a particular area of subject.

I may suggest you to complete all the levels and then proceed further.
1. Completing the CFA Program exams can take as little as 18 months, but on average, it takes about four years to earn a CFA charter.
2. Eligibility-
Have a bachelor's (or equivalent) degree
or be in the final year of your bachelor's degree program at the time of registration*
or have four years of professional work experience (does not have to be investment related)
or have a combination of professional work and college experience that totals at least four years. Part-time positions do not qualify, and the four-year total must be accrued prior to enrollment.
3. Curriculum- Ethical and Professional Standards, Investment Tools, Asset Valuation, Portfolio Management & Wealth Planning.
4. The openings available to CFA degree holders are in Banking, Insurance, Corporate Sectors and Finance, Leasing Companies. Even organisations like Railways, Reserve Bank of India and Financial Institutions like ICICI, IDBI, IFCI and UTI have given due recognition to the CFA program.
5. CFA Program is a self-study course that tests your knowledge in different areas-
Level I is about learning investment applications.
Level II is about applying them.
Level III focuses on using different applications for defining investment strategy and performing portfolio management.
