Hi,
Chances are very limited. Ususally, in order to apply for a PHD degree, you require the same subjects in your masters degree. In your case, you have pursued masters in economics and are planning to apply for phd in sociology. Either you can apply for Phd in economics or pursue a masters degree in socialogy 1st and then apply for a PHD in socialogy.
Hope my answer has solved your query. If it has, kindly mark it as best answer.

hi. You cannot compare an apple and an orange. Till th beginning of 17th century psychology, sociology were part of philosophy. Thanx to william woundt who is the father of psychology to make it as a separate discipline. The discipline which you'd like to study should depend on your interest and passion but not on some one else s opinion. A person with pure/applied math may find both of them difficult while a person with back ground of social sciences may find both easy and interesting. You can take my case as a classic example. My passion for understanding ppl had made me leave a thriving position as an associate prof in physics. Ppl

Hi,
You are eligible to apply in any university in Canada. Eligibility for a course depends on the requirements of the course. If you will be applying for a management course, then you would not be eligible without taking the GMAT. If you would be applying for a MBA, you would not be eligible if you have not taken the GMAT and do not have minimum 2 years work experience. If you are looking for engineering and computer science programs, you would not be eligible without taking the GRE. Like i have mentioned above, it depends on the course that you apply for.
Hope my answer has solved your query. If it has, kindly mark it as best answer.

Hi Nagamohan,
There are many institutes offering B.E through regular mode but there are rare options available for correspondence in the same degree course, but then you can refer to the following link to know about the available options for the same:
http://tinyurl.com/ybbh5x4
You can refine the search as per your location preference, but then being a distance course, it is possible to access the same from any part of the country.
