Candidates who have completed Master's degree in environmental science can find many jobs in government sector and private sector. They can get jobs in several government organizations like Pollution Control Board, Water Authority and Urban Planning. Several private organizations like refineries, distilleries, food processing industries and fertilizer plants are also offering various jobs for these graduates.
There are many opportunities available for M.Sc environmental science graduates in the private sector. Several companies are recruiting these graduates for environmental manager position. Some companies recruit M.Sc environmental science graduates for the post of project manager in the environmental science section. These graduates can also apply for environmental specialists in many companies. Some companies recruit Environment Consultants with post-graduation degree in Environmental Science. They can also work as Sale executive in the companies specialised in Environmental Pollution Control.
Another job available for these graduates is Environmental Journalist in any newspaper, magazine or television station. They can also work in food processing companies as managers. They can also get jobs in fertilizer plants. There is wide range of opportunities available for M.Sc environmental science graduates in government sector. They can apply for the scientific assistant post in Pollution Control Board. They can also work as environmental consultant for central or state government. They can also get job in Indian Forestry Services. They can find opportunities in research and development area. Several government research organizations are offering jobs like Research Assistant and Research Fellow. M.Sc environmental science graduates can apply for these jobs. Another job option available for these graduates is to take up teaching assignments in government Institutions. For getting this job, they should qualify the NET exam. Yes, you can easily get into a private engineering college by either clearing a particular state JEE where 12th percentage criterion is 40% or 50%, or simply by management quota if you have money.
Extra information to keep in mind before joining :
The next three years after joining a particular engineering college, you might forget your 12th performance and move on to give your best shots in your semesters scoring 8 pointer and above (which is a great thing), but the moment you step into your fourth year, your 50% will come back in your academic life as your the biggest and probably the only hurdle in between you and your dream company job. Many a times, your CV won't be even shortlisted (mainly by the MNCs). So, you need to be prepared for this. But don't worry, if working in a big MNC is your dream, then the most suitable option to fulfill it will be - by joining a startup (at whatever they pay in the name of salary, provided you get to learn and will learn about your field, working there) initially and after 1-2 years of experience, you can switch over.
Else, if you have thought of joining PSUs by clearing GATE then, best of luck. Civil services, banking and SSC CGL etc. will be there too if you wish for a government job after the 4th year. (Though these exams are not a piece of cake to clear, if your preparation is good, then you might easily get into one).
Bottom line: If engineering is what you want to do and an engineer is what you want to become, then you will eventually get into one and you will eventually become one. All you need to have is focus in the right direction and patience till you achieve your goal.
