I really don't see any disadvantage about starting with your preparations early, provided you keep revising what you have already prepared along with the remaining syllabus. Many students who are aiming for premier institutes prefer going for the prep institutes and start with the curriculum right after finishing their 10th grade.
This not only includes the curricullum but also helps in analyzing the paper pattern by preparing for mock exams, clearing test series that will help them to understand the difficulty level and the competitive level of exams liks IIT JEE and AIEEE.
