PGDM in operations is very different from the usual specializations. Usually engineering graduates or technically inclined students choose to pursue operations because a job in operations requires technical knowledge along with managerial skills. Ideally, an operations manager does all that an engineer with more than five years of experience does. He has to fine tune the day-to-day business process and operations. Not many students are aware of the numerous job opportunities after PGDM in operations, available for students. Operations is an unconventional subject, but surely a rewarding career option.
1. Supply Chain Manager
This is one of the common career paths for students with PGDM in Operations Management. In simple words, supply chain management is the movement of goods from the producer to the final consumer. A supply chain manager looks after the purchase of the raw material, deliver it to various points in the organisation, and ensure that the material is being utilized to the fullest, manufacturing of the finished goods and delivery to the consumers. In short, he is involved at every stage.
2. Logistics Manager
A logistics manager closely works with the purchasing, manufacturing and marketing department. It is the primary duty of the logistics manager to ensure that the supply chain is working as expected and is cost-effective. They are responsible for developing strategies for distributing, creating and maintaining contacts with logistics intermediaries. He also looks after the rules and regulations for import and export.
3. Inventory Control Manager
An inventory control manager creates cost-effective plans and strategies for inventory control. They look after the systems used for inventory control as well as the physical inventory. Additionally, he is responsible for managing the inventory documents. An inventory control manager can also handle purchasing, in case the organization does not have a separate purchasing department. At times, he has to search for a supplier for the good required.

Both the fields are good and have importance (as inter-related).
Considering job prospects I would say biotechnology comes first to bioinformatics:
Biotechnology is related to laboratory(both dry and wet lab) works which include from sample extraction, preparation and further processes and the work includes (biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, immunology, etc.) whereas Bioinformatics is related to dry laboratory work where you use the biotechnology samples and analyse them using the software.
Both are inter related, and the process would be biotechnological work followed by bioinformatics and also many times certain samples directly used in bioinformatic analysis.
