All Telangana medical colleges and colleges of health sciences are affiliated to this university. This university started functioning from the academic year 2016-17. 

 As is a well known 85% of the seats of all medical colleges in a state or reserved for the students domiciled in that state while 15% of the seats are reserved for all India students who are from other states. As is well known, admissions to medical colleges are determined by scoring or ranking in a national level exam called NEET. For the academic year 2023 the cutoffs announced by this university for different categories of students varies from 40 percentile to 50 percentile. 40% was for all reserved categories except for General /EWS-PwD. For general category students it is 50%.
