If you speak English fluently, then learning German words is often not as big of a problem as for most other languages. The basic most frequent 200 words are mostly cognates with English. Once you know a base set of words it becomes easier to learn new words because German likes to compound nouns.

Yes, you are reasonably right. Majority of the institutions in Germany expect you to be fluent in German language and hence the language of teaching invariably is German. So, if you are thinking of doing MS in Germany you better start learning German language right now. Of course these days, there are few colleges in Germany which teach in English also but they are few and not very recommendable. The best course of action for you which I suggest is doable and better for you will be to start learning German immediately and as you progress in the language you will gain confidence and will be able to do your studies in Germa

You have asked a very interesting but pertinent query. Whether to do Masters in Canada for Germany? Both the answers have pros and cons. In Canada, the advantage is that the medium of instruction is English and it is convenient for students from India. In addition, Canada is reasonably well industrialized and getting jobs after post-graduation is not difficult at all. On the other hand, Germany is considered as the leading country for mechanical engineering. Hence the courses for post-graduation studies are well suited for mechanical engineers. It is very nice to see your interest in automotive engineering. But I am afraid IIT Roorkee, I don't think offers this course. I am attaching a link that will give you the list of different courses that are offered by IIT Roorkee from undergraduate level till Research and post graduate level. You can go through this list and once again check for yourself if I missed out on this automotive engineering. Don't get confused. After completing B.Sc in Physics, if you are interested in Masters, then IITs are best. There is an entrance exam i.e. IIT JAM you can apply for that exam.
