Hi Tanuj, Design Engineering is not the same as machine design. The former is a more persuasive domain where the design of systems, processes, and parts are done in diverse fields, whereas the latter is more specific and niche into mechanical machine components. BITS Pilani offers only M.E in Design Engineering as a regular higher degree course. However, you can take certain electives of Machine Design if you want. No. One cannot get admission in NIFT without writing the entrance exam. If you're interested in Diploma course then you just need to clear a personal interview. Otherwise for Bachelors programme you ought to sit for the exam in order to get admission.

5.5 is generally a low IELTS score. Even for Bachelor's degree, the colleges in New Zealand require a band of 6. But the catch is that colleges have several pathway programs for international students who do not meet the admission requirements slightly or more for the English language requirements. You must also remember that you cannot secure admission only on basis of IELTS score. The main criteria is how much is your academic percentile.
