JEE Main rank is not considered for the NDA exam. The NDA exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission UPSC for selection of candidates for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course. JEE Main is a separate exam which is conducted for admission to BE/B.Tech and B.Arch/Plan courses at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognised by participating State Governments. Candidates for NDA are selected based on their performance in the written exam and interview. Besides, the physical and medical fitness of candidates are also checked.

One of the most coveted defence examinations in the nation, the NDA is used to choose applicants for admission to the Indian Naval Academy and National Defence Academy programmes. The exam is given twice a year to choose male and female applicants who meet the requirements. Approximately 2.5–3 Lacs applicants register for the exam each year, out of which 4-5 Lacs students actually take it. Out of all the students who take the exam, about 7-8 thousand pass. This indicates that just 2.5–3% of applicants receive invitations to move on to the SSB interview round. An SSB interview and a written exam make up the NDA exam selection process.

The themes and subtopics that candidates must study for the exam are outlined in the NDA syllabus. Maths and GAT make up the two halves of the NDA course. The syllabus is written at the standards of Classes 10, 11, and 12. Applicants can review the subjects covered in the syllabus below: Calculus: Math Matrices, Determinants, and Calculus Differential Equations and Integral Calculus trigonometric functions Algebra Vector The analytical geometry of two and three dimensions, along with statistics and probability. GAT. There are two sections to the NDA GAT syllabus. English questions are found in Part A, and general knowledge questions are found in Part B. In the English portion, questions include vocabulary, coherence, comprehension, grammar and usage, and comprehension. Physics, Chemistry, Social Studies, General Science, Geography, and Current Events are the subjects covered in GK questions.

National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint services academy of the Indian Armed Forces. Here, the cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force train together before they go on to the respective service academies for further pre-commissioning training. Combined Defence Services (CDS) is the examination for recruitment into Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Indian Air Force Academy. NDA is conducted for candidates who have passed or are appearing in Class 12. Whereas, CDS exam is conducted for candidates who have passed or are appearing in Graduation. NDA has two stages: a written exam followed by an interview by the Service Selection Board (SSB). The written exam consists of two papers. The total duration of the exam is 5 hours. CDS also has a written exam followed by an SSB interview. The written exam consists of three papers: English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. The total duration of the exam is 6 hours.
