Usually civil engineering students go for a masters degree or a Ph.D. program. Many of them get admits into various abroad universities. This is the trend I have mostly observed among my seniors. As per my knowledge very few core civil companies visit our college NITK, Surathkal. Some of them include L&T, BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited) and the pay offered by BPCL is really good considering the fact that it is a PSU and hence includes more benefits. Apart from these core companies data analytic profile and management profile are offered by various other companies. Transfer from college to college or university to university is possible. The procedure for Transfer from one College to another: 1) A student desirous of transfer from one College to another shall apply to the Registrar in the prescribed manner for permission for such transfer. Such applications shall be submitted in every case prior to making the desired transfer and shall furnish valid reasons for the transfer proposed. 2) An application for a transfer shall be accompanied with the written consent of the Principal of the College in which the student is studying; the written promise of admission from the Principal of the College which he proposes to join, together with an assurance by him that the student, if the transfer is permitted, will be able to continue in his college, the course of study already commenced by the student in each subject under each part of the examination; and a certificate of satisfactory progress and good conduct from the Principal of the college, he is leaving. Vice-Chancellor is the authority to sanction transfer. A student who has been permitted by the Vice-Chancellor to be transferred from one college to another shall apply for a combination of the attendance earned by him in the college in which he was studying before such transfer and the attendance that he would be able to earn in the college to which he has been admitted. Every such application shall be accompanied by a challan receipt for the prescribed fee and shall be sent to the Registrar of the University through the Principal. However, I would suggest that you inquire from the institute you are studying and the institute you are interested in, as these rules and procedure of transfer change with time.
