Wonderful question. A lot of students underplay the advantages that could be gained by a good internship. Moreover, the field of design being an experientially (pardon the wrong syntax) learned art, it gives you an advantage of having worked with a professional and getting mentored. Now given that a lot of animators are looking for experience, some of the good internship options may be charging a fee. There are internships available at Crest, Rhythm & Hues, DQ and even at smaller places like our own small studio. However, even paying up may not gain you access at some of these big names since seats are limited and the cost of maintaining the seats include rent, electricity, system, software and even the cost of mentoring. However, the upside is that you gain access into a company (half the battle is won) and to a mentor, who is capable of recommending your candidature for the job if you're good at your work. Typically internship may last from 3-6 months before they give you a look in. Career is a resultant of your knowledge combined with your passion and expression ability.
