See the direction course paper of FTII consisted of two sections(as I knew four years back): Section 1 had GK and Current Events which had 20-25 marks and the rest 75-80 marks were on section 2,which consists of some specific aspects. In Section 1, mainly 'fill in the blanks' questions are there which are based on Indian Culture, Music, Famous Personalities, Musical Instruments, Singers, Dancers, Artists, etc. Mostly these questions will be based on Indian Cinema. Section B will consists of specific topics like you have to write an essay about conversation between two old friends and you will be given a picture and asked to elaborate the scene like that and imagining the sounds you will hear in a tea stall next to a railway stations and stuff like that. I suggest you concentrate on the specific aspect section as it contains most of the marks and there is nothing definite in GK section. In GK section, you may or may not get a common question, so therefore you have to score marks in Section B. Also try to find the previous years paper as it will give you an idea of what to expect. That is a very general confusion faced by everyone. You have to first understand the difference between pgdm & mba. Mba is a degree and pgdm is a diploma. Degrees can only be awarded by a university but pgdm can be awarded by any institute recognized by aicte. Mba is more of theoretical type, while pgdm is more of practical type. Pgdm will be better if u prefer practical knowledge and industry exposure above theoretical knowledge. But if you want go for higher studies like phd u should go for mba, as for phd a masters degree is required and pgdm is not a degree. But if the pgdm program is recognized by aicte as well as the association of Indian universities as equivalent to mba, then it will be treated as a degree. So do check the details of the program and then decide. All the best.

The eligibility depends on the type of course that you wish to pursue , the details of some courses is stated below:
Diploma –Class 10th pass from a recognised board with minimum 40% marks.
Bachelor's Degree: Class 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks.
Post-graduation degree: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with at least 45% marks.
Graduate & PG programs may also require you to appear in entrance exams such as NCHMCT,AIMA UGAT, E-CHAT etc.

Currently there are more than 2.40 million people working in hotel, catering and allied industry in India and the number is going to increase in next couple of years as new hotels are coming up in large numbers in urban and semi-urban areas. Trained hotel management professionals would have privilege over untrained graduates as hotels are not willing invest in training of recruits rather prefer trained ones.
