Sastra admissions isn't based on cut off marks
It is based on your overall score in 12th.
You can choose any course you like. ECE, EEE, E&I depts are competitive, bit tough and lots of harwork required.
School of Chemical and Biotechnology - Staffs are good and they teach well.
If you wanna be cool and relaxing go for mechanical or computing.
Job placements are mostly IT companies. there are also few core companies coming in for other dept.

Yeah, you can definitely get admission in LPU. From what I've seen, your 90% in 12th is a strong score, and that's more than enough for eligibility in most courses; JEE score isn't compulsory here.

Compared to colleges that depend heavily on JEE marks, LPU is much more flexible. You can even get a good scholarship based on your board marks or by giving LPUNEST.

You can't compare rank of any two entrance tests. You can compare the Colleges which you get at these ranks. So, the above mentioned rank can fetch you HBTI, Kanpur or IET Lucknow. Both are very good colleges.

This happened, because may be life has something far better than this. The term success is a very complicated thing, and you are trying to judge your success on the basis of a single incident, which in my view is totally worthless. I have seen those who didn't make through the IITs and even the NITs, forced to take admission in a 2 tier college and today is enjoying their life being so called a successful guy in cool companies like google and Facebook.
