Yes, you don't have to buy specific books seperately for SRMJEEE preparations. You can refer to your 10+2 NCERT books from classes 10 to 12. However, you can purchase practice papers for solve past year question papers and strengthen your preparations.

The GATE papers are defined by the specific paper codes which is mentioned in the GATE 2026 information brochure, as well as in the application form. Since the level of the BITSAT syllabus is similar to the 11th and 12th standard qualifying exam, the students are advised to prepare for the exam with their NCERT books. Through the NCERT books, the students will be able to understand the subjects and their topics well. However, other books should also be referred to have a more conceptual understanding.

No, JEE exams are not mandatory for BSc admissions at IIT Madras. Candidates who wish to take admissions into the BSc course at IIT Madras must appear for IISER entrance examination. The admissions into IIT Madras BSc courses are decided on merit basis where, the scores obtained by candidates in the IISER entrance exam are taken into account to decide the admissions.

OBC-NCL and EWS category need not submit any category certificate while filling the GATE application form. All candidates have to submit the following -

  • Photograph and signature (as per specifications)
  • Valid photo ID (such as Aadhar card, PAN Card, Voter ID, etc.)
  • Foreign nationals have to upload, either a Driving License or passport (in the valid ID section)

Category candidates must upload their caste certificate, and PwD/Dyslexic candidates must submit their medical (PwD or dyslexic certificate) to avail compensatory time.

Students will not be able to go back to previously answered 130 questions, once they start solving additional questions.

Candidates can change the following details during the GATE 2026 form correction process -

  • Date of Birth
  • Choice of exam cities
  • Change in existing cities
  • Adding a second paper
  • Gender change
  • Change in category, etc. 

Candidates who want to modify their application form have to pay a specific amount through netbanking/credit card/debit card, etc. Last year, the fee for each change was INR 500 per particular.

According to BITSAT exam pattern, every correct answer will be given 3 marks. Maximum marks for BITSAT is 390. For every wrong answer, one mark will be cut. Since there is negative marking, students should be careful while selecting questions to answer.
