A Supply Chain describes the flow of goods, services and information from suppliers to the final customer & it is applicable to any industry. At ITM Business School, the two years full time program is designed to equip students with concept and practices of Operatiosn and Supply Chain Management, which will help them take up challenging jobs is operations and supply chain discipline to contribute directly to overall corporate success. The rigorous training during the program will expose them to take a wide sweep of supply chain and operations management and strategic activities.
This course is a general management course concentrating on both Operations and Supply Chain
Management covering course modules on Operations, TQM, Techonology Management, Strategic
Procurement & World Class Manufaturing, Materials Management, Inventory & Logistics,
Networing & Distribution, IT Sytems, Outsourcing, & Contract Management, Sustainability &
Regulation etc.
All students have to do rigorous field work, analysis and reading in this course. The six months
Internship in leading business organizations will expose the students to the management processes
and practices therein, which will enable them to take up managerial jobs in operations, supply chain
and logistics functional areas. During the internship students will get the hands on experience
to perform in real work environment. The program aims at meeting industry's demands for
professionals, who are well equipped to take up the challenges of businesses in the knowledge
economy and developing operations and supply chain professionals who have insight into the
market place and are aware of global trends.
You would normally start in a Management trainee reporting up through a supply chain department or a plant manager. You would have specific responsibilities such as monitoring warehouse inventory levels, vendor management, etc. In time you could rise to be a plant manager or a VP level person overseeing a broad range of operational tasks in a company. Ultimately, an operations manager has the opportunity to rise to become the Chief Operating Officer.
