For all the MBA degree it needs to be having a UGC approval any degree which doesn't have UGC approval is not valid anywhere in India. I'd say yes, it is important. It will allow you to practice programming languages; you'll not have to fully depend on your college. In addition to this, you can also work on your own projects like app, game, website or whatever it is. I would recommend to buy at least i3 processor, 4gb RAM, 500GB HDD. These are the minimum requirements that your laptop should have, if you can afford to buy more advanced, then it is beneficial and time saving for you.

For admission to NID for M.Des., eligibility for a candidate is to have completed a bachelor degree in any discipline of minimum 4-year duration from recognized university/ institute.
As for IIFA Multimedia, Srinivasanagar, Srinivasanagar, Bangalore for B.Sc in Animation and Multimedia, the eligibility is that a candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board. So, if you B.Sc was 4 year degree program, you can apply for NID and IIFA both. Else, try for IIFA.
