For being eligible to apply for MCA, you have to have mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or statistics as one of the subjects at graduation level. If you fulfill these criteria you are eligible for MCA.
As far as other information regarding MCA is concerned, we would like to state that most of the entrance tests are conducted in April or May. Notifications are out in January or February. The combined MCA entrance tests held in India are: NIMCET for NITs, CET Maharashtra for Maharashtra colleges, UPMCAT for most colleges in UP, Andhra Pradesh CET for Colleges in AP,Orissa State MCA Test for all Colleges in Orissa, MET for All college under Punjabi Univ. GNDU, & PTU in Punjab, MP-Pre MCA Test for all colleges in MP, Kerala MCA Test for all colleges in Kerala.
The most reputed universities and colleges offering MCA degree in India are: Delhi University, Pune University, Jawahar Lal Nehru university, New Delhi, IIT Roorkee, NIT Trichy, VJTI, Mumbai, Banaras Hindu University, MNNIT Allahabad, ICSE Indore, Thapar University. Other colleges offering MCA are NITs, Vellore Institute, PSG Coimbatore, Hyderabad Central University, BITS Mesra, Jalgaon University, and Punjab University etc.

Prospects of a better career prospect along with a better salary package.
Salary is a function of various factors - i.e. (i) the institute where you have completed your B.Tech + M.Tech. e.g. a graduate from a top institute will command a higher salary. (ii) Your work experience - organization and type of work profile (iii) city - a metropolitan city will have higher salaries as compared to smaller cities and towns. (iv) Your current organization - i.e. where you will be joining - an MNC usually has higher salaries as compared to other organizations. (v) Your work profile i.e. Manager/ AVP, etc. Thus one cannot allocate a figure.

Youngsters, as of today, get influenced by their peer group. They always look for the 'in thing' , as in, the field \ function which is popular and blindly jump into it. I made the same mistake, when I started my career, by joining the bandwagon for the ICWA course. It did not even strike me to find out, as to whether I had the required skill sets to succeed. After the initial euphoria died down, I had to face the harsh reality. I was not cut out for this program. I ended up wasting close to two years. Another factor, which was responsible for not opting out of the program, was the society. When people knew I was pursuing ICWA, the admiration was a huge enticement. Please do not make the mistake which I made. Put down your skill sets after doing a honest introspection.
