Hi Animesh, scope of merchant navy in India is very promising one. The number of ship and cruise are increasing, also private giants are investing crores in ports and sea trade.
There is a boom in this sector with handsome salary package.
You can enter it right after your 12 (PCM) after completing 1 year pre-sea training as a deck cadet.
After completing B.Sc.(Nautical Science) in the officer cadre which will lead you to become captain after 5-7 years of experience.
You can also join it directly after B.Tech in marine engineering, mechanical, electrical, electronics & telecommunication, naval architect.
Except marine engineering candidates, others have to undergo a 10 months pre-sea training which is offered by many institute and port trusts or recruitingcompany itself. After that you will be appointed as a 5th or junior engineer. It will take you 5-7 years depending in your own abilities for becoming 'chief engineer'.

Actuarial science is course that concentrates on the mathematical and statistical analysis of risk, and their applications to insurance and other business management problems.
Any one above 18 years of age with proficiency in mathematics and statistics can take up the course and become an Actuary. The candidate must pass 10+2 or equivalent. Post Graduate Course:-

PG Diploma in Certified Risk and Insurance management

Eligibility: Candidates who wish to go for PG courses should have Bachelor's degree.

Hi Mandeep, civil engineering is the conventional branch of study in the engineering field.
After the successful completion of B.E./B.Tech you may opt for M.Tech. And for that, you need to undergo an entrance test, i.e., GATE exam.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and Seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
After appearing in GATE exam, you will receive a score card. It is associated with two points, i.e., valid time period and qualifying marks.
