As rightly stated by @subhasish debroy, it is not necessary that one requires to make a career transition but even if you are, with your expertise in CAD you have potential to forsee moving in fields like Auto designing, manufacturing industries.
As you are a Mechanical engineer, and with already working in a core stream you need to take the decision of career transition by giving in complete thought to it. Also providing us with your work profile/ domain can be helpful so to be able to guide you better.
